SciSpace Review: A Game Changer for Research or Just Another Hyped-Up AI Tool?

Currently using AI Literature review day in day out for all my research work. Highly recommended.

Spotlighting on this research tool because it is developed to help researchers find relevant research papers, conduct literature reviews, chat with PDF, retrieve easy explanations from complex sections, upload images, and decode them in an understandable manner. You can just do this in one single interface.

Personally, i think its effectiveness depends a lot on how you utilize its features. I've had some solid success with my literature review for my research projects, especially after curating my own library with relevant uploads… most people using SciSpace literature review forget about its Library feature and Copilot's assistance in digging deeper.

A useful platform for those who are looking for an easy and quick way to understand research papers. Their AI-powered features reduce the time span spent on understanding a paper with complex terms and formulas.

This was a pretty neat feature! I asked a couple of basic questions regarding key takeaways and the paper's overall conclusion, and it gave easy-to-read answers to my queries.

I think the two biggest pros of SciSpace are Copilot and the feature of constructing different folders so that you can have datasets for whatever subject you have classified your folders.

It seems that SciSpace allows you to browse questions, presumably asked by other users… Google indexed a question where, surprisingly, I appeared in the answers… I should also note that for some reason my paper is mistakenly cited as coming from "Dental science reports" instead of "Scientific Reports". No idea what happened there, but another clear reason that this tool is absolutely useless.

I recently tried Scispace to see if it could provide a quick literature review… Out of curiosity, I decided to take the exact answer provided by Scispace and search for it on Google using an incognito page. Surprisingly, Google pulled up the same answer from Scispace, along with the exact question I had asked… I suspect that making the answers public is just a way for them to gain visibility on Google and boost their user base.

SciSpace is rated 2.7 stars on CapTerra. Top complaints are bad customer service, poor document formatting, and buggy software.

Wow if only I'd of read the reviews before paying so much money to CreatorU and Typeset! Im furious and have also been denied a refund for this poor poor software. It can't do anything it claims.

Buggy, low-quality garbage! It's totally useless! Do not repeat your mistake! I accidentally opted for the yearly subscription instead of the monthly one, and they refused to cancel it and refund me.

I found it to be OK at best. In my tests, it often returned papers that were relevant but pretty niche, rather than what I'd consider to be the key papers on the topic… Basically, I don't trust it and would only use it (if at all) alongside or after a manual search of the literature.

For the literature review its bascially way nicer than other tools to just jump into a field, but its really shit to do a proper deep dive. If you already know how to get the best out of keyword matching in World of Science it isn't really better.
