Areas For Improvement
Limited Depth in Complex Academic Tasks
Users engaged in high-level academic work find Jenni AI lacking in advanced analytical capabilities. It struggles with tasks requiring nuanced understanding and critical thinking.
Jenni relied on vague pop-science terms instead of the specific, nitty-gritty terminology he needed… Jenni lost its head completely and started writing what it thought would be a viral article about cheating in relationships and on tests. (Relating experience of an evolutionary theorist)
Jenni AI resorted to vague, generic language without detailing any research methods or useful facts. (Relating experience of an epidemiologist)
It's reviewing ligands instead of bases. It’s not wrong, but it’s reviewing the wrong thing. (Relating experience of an organic chemist)

There have been cases where the AI was unable to form an opinion or perform in-depth analysis. Responding with statements like "Sorry, I'm just an AI; I can't form an opinion." This upset me, as I was expecting more.

Questionable Citation Accuracy
This is a major concern for academic users. Multiple reports indicate that Jenni AI sometimes generates inaccurate or entirely fabricated citations, which can have serious consequences for students and researchers.
Be very, very cautious using AI for citations. The algorithms with hallucinate citations if you ask fr something that doesn’t exist.

You should learn how these AI models work. They don’t understand what they say, so they can’t reference the validity of a statement. That makes them the absolute worst tools regarding academic citations.

It cited an article titled "TikTok's Insecurity: The Algorithm That Watches You” which straight up does not exist. The “cite sources” function appears to be a brief search on Google Scholar, which takes longer than doing it yourself.

High Risk of AI Detection
Content generated by Jenni AI is often flagged as AI-written by detection tools. This poses a significant risk for students, as using AI-generated content can lead to penalties in academic settings.
I tested three paragraphs that I got from Jenni using Content At Scale and GPTZero’s AI detection feature. All three paragraphs got tagged as AI content on both platforms.
